The piece is made from celerytop pine veneer and black-stained mdf, and uses pivots and castors. This piece had its origins in a tall bookshelf called ‘Pivot’ I made recently, based on my mum’s habit of moving the furniture around. As a child, I would often come home and find that my bed or pieces of other furniture in the house had been re-arranged. I like the idea of being able to move furniture around to
create a different look so I decided to play with changing the configuration
of a piece of furniture instead of having to buy a new piece.
My furniture also allows me to share what I value with others. I strive to make it both practical and elegant, and fine local timber is a key material for me. I want my work to be personally relevant to its owners and give pleasure on an aesthetic, functional and emotional level |
