I had wanted to develop a small folding table that was suitable for production using a CNC Router, and the competition gave me that opportunity.

The components were drawn using a CAD (computer aided drafting) program and then transferred to the router which cut them automatically.

The forms used in this design are reminiscent of some of those of the tiger, with the stripes represented by the slots in the top. The slots in the top not only represent the tigers stripe but also its unfortunate absence. The elongated elliptical slot also refers back to an early piece that I made whilst a student that used a similar shape.

This table is my first serious foray into design suitable for CNC production.
