tidal zone

an exhibition of contemporary furniture and objects

co-presented by the Design Centre - Tasmania and the furniture designers association.

 

tidal zone asked designers and makers to consider the tidal zone - the space where land and sea meet.
On an island this is the ‘edge’ that delineates the island's geographical space. But this is also a shifting space in which discarded, found and natural materials are collected and combined after the tide has washed away the previous landscape. The ‘tidal zone’ is a locus for disruption, unusual juxtapositions, change and new creation.

 

The exhibition was shown at the Design Centre -Tasmania in Launceston from March 23 - May 13 2007, and will tour to 8 regional galleries around Australia from September 2007.  Watch this space for dates but in the meantime visit  tidal zone online
