I wanted to play a bit more, to try not to be so serious about my work, so these stools are about that. The legs are splayed (I wanted to give the appearance of a young calf that is still a bit wobbly on its legs) and then the feet are made to resemble hooves.

The materials I have used are stainless steel (for its durability), blackwood and nylon. (I wanted to upholster the seats with a black and white cow hide but I had to buy a whole hide and for 4 stools - the economics didn’t add up).

The inspiration came to me when I was in Bangladesh doing aid work in 2003. Its not uncommon in the capital, Dakha to see a herd of cows or buffalo being driven through the main street amongst 13,000,000 people.

Design usually comes to me first through dreaming about form which then follows sketches or rather doodles, then full size drawings then the finished object.
